1 /5 Wallys Journey: So I will make this long story short. In late 2016, I had ample amount of money to spend and made the decision to purchase a gold chain for myself. I decided to purchase said chain at Parkdale Mall, being the closest mall in my area. I came across American Jewelers and inspected the chains a dealer had to offer. A man I assume from Asian (Indian) descent wearing glasses who I also assume is the owner noticed me and proceeds to ask me if he can help me. I of course said yes because I in fact did need help. I also mentioned to the man that I wasn’t looking to spend a lot of money but enough money to get me a real gold chain. He lead me to the “real 10k hollow gold chains” that he assured me were real gold, hollow real gold chain instead of gold filled. At the time, I didn’t know much about real gold or anything gold related so I trusted the dealer when he told me it was real gold after numerous times I was assured it was real. He also told me any chains specifically bought from him have lifetime warranty and they will never fade, so I went ahead and bought the chain. I won’t say exactly how much I spent, but it was a little over $400 of my hard earned money. Fast forward 2 years later, I come back to the same dealer who sold me the chain and showed him the same chain I purchased after it had turned a silver color when I cleaned it using a specific cleaner for gold jewelry. He takes a look at it and says, “This is not my chain I’ve never seen this chain before.” He also said it was not his markings, but looking at other chains in the showcase it was clearly his mark. I kept explaining myself, but he did not believe me because I could not provide a receipt. The situation escalated to the point that he told me he would call security or get the manager because he felt I was acting a certain way like I might try and get physical, but I was sure to act in a respectable manner due to the company around us. All I had asked was for was my chain to be replaced or fixed because it had lifetime warranty. I feel it was a waste of my time and money and I feel taken advantage of because I didn’t know much about jewelry back in 2016 like I do now. If you are interested in buying jewelry at American Jewelers in Parkdale Mall (Beaumont, Texas), I do not recommend this jeweler to anyone and to not spend your money here. I have informed many friends and family of my situation. Thank you.
