1 /5 Willa Hallowell: Thus far, I am not impressed by the watch repair guy. I came in with a watch that needed a winding mechanism stem (not sure this is he correct term). He was barely polite. I was told they might have it back by Saturday. I stopped by, but it wasnt ready. This was too bad as I didnt want to be abroad for a month without my watch. But the real problem was the way in which the guy spoke to me. He was dismissive. "Dont be so upset. Its just a watch." He displayed no empathy or understanding of the basics of customer service. He could have said, "I will do my best to get your watch back before you leave." Instead, he kept telling me that my watch wasnt that important and I shouldnt bother being upset. I told him that he had no right to tell me what I should or shouldnt be feeling.. He just kept telling me it was only a watch and implied that it was silly of me to be upset. I am a pretty well balanced and positive person but left the store feeling that I had been talked down to. His self-awareness and customer service skills need upgrading. I live at Kendal on Hudson and have already told several people about his attitude. Reputations are hard to build and keep but much easier to lose. I do not know the owner who may be wonderful. I just want him to be aware of the impact of his repair mans behavior.
