1 /5 Michelle Barnes: My review seems to have been deleted, so I am reposting it.:
It is such a shame that such great quality jewelry is ruined because of such terrible customer service.
I am a black woman and do not like assuming that poor service is due to profiling or racism, however this establishment is undeniably displaying this. I have entered this store many times with my friends, of whom are white, and they have received excellent and engaging customer service. But when I shop in the store alone, I am treated poorly and often ignored. This occurs with every employee I have interacted with. I have encountered some unfavorable customer service experiences in my lifetime, but this establishment truly surpasses those.
Todays instance is what pushed me to write this review. I came in to receive my free jewelry cleaning for two James Avery rings. I spoke to a woman who replied, in a very harsh and offensive tone, that she "couldnt clean them" and that I "had to wait." I ended up just buying the cleaning kit to further avoid such a saddening experience. As an isolated incident, I would not be bothered. However, the fact that every time I interact with an employee here, I receive such a pessimistic attitude makes it hard for me to believe that biases do not reside in them. If not for the fact that my peers, who also shop here, receive much kinder service, I wouldnt feel so inclined to write a review discussing racial profiling.
I think the employees at this establishment could benefit from training that includes reduction of unconscious bias towards customers. It is a common teaching included in new hire training procedures for many companies. I would appreciate the same regard for James Avery as well. Thank you.
