1 /5 I A: I rarely write reviews, but I feel a responsibility to speak out for others who may have left this store feeling humiliated or silenced. My experience with this establishment was nothing short of unsettling—and it begins and ends with the team member, Shayleen. From the moment I walked in, I was met not with warmth or welcome, but with an air of passive-aggressive hostility that bordered on paranoia. I came in simply to explore and test fragrances—standard practice at any store selling perfumes. Yet despite some clearly labeled “tester” bottles on display, I was firmly told no. No explanation, no courtesy. Just an unshakable sense that I wasn’t allowed to engage with the products. This wasn’t just poor customer service—it was gatekeeping, plain and simple. Shayleen made NO attempt to conceal her disdain, as if I was unworthy of even sampling what she sold. I left feeling not like a customer, but like an intruder. And based on numerous reviews across Yelp and Google, my experience isn’t an isolated incident. It’s a pattern. Let me be blunt: this is a business that seems to judge who is "worthy" of shopping there. If you don’t look a certain way or fit into the owners narrow view of a “trusted customer,” expect to be treated like a threat rather than a guest. It’s discriminatory, demeaning, and completely out of touch with what modern retail—and basic human decency—should look like. To those thinking of supporting this business: ask yourself if you’re comfortable giving your money to a store that makes certain customers feel small, suspicious, and unwelcome. The owner is doing real damage to her own brand by refusing to treat all people with dignity. Oh, and as for the merchandise? The crystals—hyped up as rare and “energetic”—bear a striking resemblance to wholesale offerings on AliExpress. Something to think about before you spend $60 on a $6 item. 5 /5 Robert Alvarez: This was my very second, as opposed to my very first time, going to Dreaming Goddess. My first time was in January, 2022, and I went there to treat myself to some Birthday gifts. I would have much preferred to have returned sooner than a year later, but my schedule was such that I could not return until last week. This time, I purchased Birthday gifts for myself, a good friend whose Birthday is also in January, as well as some additional Yule gifts for my life partner. I love how huge the store is, and there is truly something for everyone: Crystals, card decks, jewelry, mugs, soaps, etc. The selection of card decks as well as books are quite large. I especially love the sections on the upper level that focus on a specific theme: Wiccan/Pagan, Goddess, Herbal Magick, the Fae, Angels, etc. It has become one of my favorite places in Poughkeepsie, NY, and I look forward to returning well before January, 2024!!

5 /5 John Heller: extremely helpful, helpful, and caring staff. They even fixed a broken diffuser, just as a favor for us they did. It was super glue. These are really special people. This is a special store.
