1 /5 James Morgan: I was a decade long customer with Toups. I had my multiple vehicle insurance as well as my homeowners policy with them. My home policy more than doubled in price and I kept getting with them every year asking for them to find me a cheaper rate. I am a retiree and have limited income. They kept lying to me saying that my mortgage company required me to insure my home for much more than the purchase price and much more than I owed. The last time, earlier this year, they advised me I may be able to lower the coverage amount, but could only do so after renewing at the higher coverage rate. Then I switched to USAA and got the exact same coverage for fully one half of the price. I can understand the desire to make more money. However, when you are doing so by lying and stepping on your customers then that is inexcusable.
