1 /5 domonick Teague: Had an initial consultation set with Joan at 1:00PM on 01/27/2025, for her to come to my mother’s house and view her belongings and potentially begin the estate sale process for us. Joan did not show up, nor did she bother to call me or text me beforehand, letting me know she would not be able to make it to our appointment, which displays the ultimate lack of professionalism. I text her at 1:09PM, reminding her of our appointment to check and see was she running a little late. I didn’t receive a text message from her until 2:45PM with her stating that she had an unexpected appointment. Its one thing to be running a business and maybe not have the best prices or something of that nature, but to miss an appointment and not text or call beforehand is the ultimate display of a lack of professionalism to me as it wastes people’s precious time. Needless to say, I will not be working with this business to host my estate sale.

The support she continues to provide when caring for valued possessions, both what we purchase and what we say goodbye to, is above and beyond. We have enjoyed every interaction. Thank You! for all your support in giving our beloved possessions special care and nice homes during our downsizing activities while moving into our next phases of life. Joan is fair, honest, and is an asset to the local community. I look forward to more positive experiences and fun furniture in the process!

1 /5 Frank Zimmerman: Updated: I saw your signs. And fairly priced is a stretch. Other shoppers agreed that prices were high (even marked as reduced!). But, in reality, it was ultimately the rude staff that ruined it for us. Went to one of the estate sales today. Our first one for possessions! We were not impressed at all. Ive never seen an estate sale that doesnt have half price on EVERYTHING on the last day. Instead it was weird, marked down prices or make an offer. So we made a very reasonable offer but the staff was rude and unmoved from their high price. After speaking with SEVERAL other people who had been shopping at the same sale, we all agreed the prices were excessive compared to other estate sales weve been to before. This was the third one of the day and, clearly, the worst run operation. We will not return to Possessions ever again.

1 /5 Benjamin Cradic: The owner and staff are not rude, but they’re not friendly either. The owner has lofty delusions about the level of quality in her store. The owner acts like she’s running an exclusive, upscale boutique similar to Linley Designs in Clarendon Hills, when in fact her store is “acceptable” to “good” grade thrift. This is also a consignment shop, but she will turn down 95% of items. I don’t blame her for being selective, as to not fill her shop with junk, but I have offered items for her consideration of equal or higher grade than what her store is stocked with and she has turned down every item in a subtly insulting and condescending manner. Don’t get me wrong, there are some nice items in her store, but they are pricey and you would honestly find higher quality in the Chicago suburbs at cheaper prices and better selection!
