2 /5 Mary Ann Koehler: We held a commercial building policy with this company (Badger Mutual through Kaiser and Associates) for over 10 years and had a fine experience with them until right before the end.
As background, we never had a claim, paid all of our bills on time, and we stuck with the company even though rates were not the lowest and the renewal process was a bit cumbersome. As repayment for our loyalty, John Kaiser put us up for non-renewal--for 8 months down the road at the actual end of our policy! The reason? In his mind we were slow to respond and/or ignored a couple emails his assistant sent. He made this directive of non-renewal to the assistant, by email, with us copied as if it was trivial. He never even picked up the phone to see if something was wrong or if we had just missed the emails. We did miss them, because they went to spam. We were pretty surprised by his pettiness and spitefulness, especially without having gotten our side...as the customer. In the end, we beat him to the punch and went to another carrier with better coverage at a better rate.
