1 /5 John Glabe: My vehicle had been in the shop for 4 months, so I thought I could drop the insurance and save some money... then we got a letter in the mail stating my wifes license would be suspended if we didnt insure it or turn in the plate, so I decided to reinsure it.
I called Progressive and explained this situation, so the woman over the phone, and she said we could do comprehensive insurance to save money. Sounded great, and I even switched our truck to comprehensive because itll be parked for 31 days until it gets fixed. She made sure I knew that these vehicles had to be parked for at least 31 days to have this coverage. That seemed like the only requirement. Mission accomplished.
When my wife went to renew the tags on the vehicles this week, she found out her license was suspended because these vehicles were not insured. I printed out the policy for proof, but it turns out we need PIP coverage. My wife had been driving with a suspended license for weeks after the Progressive agent sold me the wrong insurance.
We had to pay an additional $155 to the DMV to reinstate her license after switching back to PIP.
I called to complain that I was sold insurance that doesnt meet the Florida requirement after I stated I needed it to prevent license suspension. The woman on the phone acknowledged the agent should have notified me. All I asked for was the $155 DMV fee to be reimbursed, but she refused. She apologized for the screw up, and but will not take responsibility.
