1 /5 Josh Yang: I usually dont write reviews, but my negative experience with CVI compelled me to write one. Everything with CVI was fine, until I wanted to cancel my car insurance policy with Mercury. I contacted them requesting a cancellation of the policy, signed the necessary paperwork, and was told that the cancellation would be processed the day I requested it (Jan 30).
Fast forward about a month later (Feb 26), and I get a debit for the Mercury insurance policy premium that was supposedly cancelled. I emailed them regarding the issue, and was simply told "My apology, we will get that reimbursed for you.". No explanation was given as to why the charge was issued. When pressed regarding a timeline as to when the reimbursement would occur, I was simply told "Soon". When asked for proof of cancellation, CVI only provided a copy of the signed cancellation request (documentation showing that the policy was actually cancelled was not provided).
Due to a lack of communication and transparency, I contacted the Mercurys customer support to see if they could help. It turns out that CVI did not process my cancellation request, and only submitted the paperwork after I emailed them regarding the charge on my account (Feb 26).
I emailed CVI again to inquire as to why the insurance cancellation was not submitted, when they told me that it was. As of the writing of this review:
- CVI has not responded to my email, and has not responded to any emails since Ive inquired about the cancellation that was not submitted.
- CVI has not provided any proof that the cancellation request was submitted.
- CVI has not provided any documentation confirming cancellation of the policy.
I consider it a red flag when the actual insurance company is more helpful than the insurance broker. I understand that people can make mistakes, but taking ownership of and communicating said mistakes to customers goes a long way. Had the company apologized and communicated with me the details of the situation, I would not have written this review. I would not recommend this company due to the lack of transparency, communication, and overall lack of professionalism. Save yourself the trouble, eliminate the middle man, and get your insurance rates/quotes via the internet.
