Charles Schwab - Spokane

PJ R’man We have moved ALL our accounts--brokerage, retirement, HSA--to Schwab in the last few years. Most recently, we moved a brokerage account from E*Trade/Morgan Stanley. ETrade/MS was impossibly frustrating and has taken TWO WEEKS to give me my money (still pending) and charged two very large fees while they were at it, one from our existing account AND one from our NEW account with Schwab. Why two fees? Im sure ETrade/Morgan Stanley splits them in order to hide them since I only found them among the downloaded transactions I happened to capture before they locked me out and the description on one of them was just "Brokerage to brokerage fund transfer." NOT COOL. I called Schwab for help in figuring out what the other firm was doing and if it was really legal, and Schwab REFUNDED BOTH FEES to us! Amazing. Schwab has real people to help us by phone 24 hours a day, every day of the year--REAL HUMANS. They are extremely helpful and, dare I say, show compassion and ethics. What a concept. I cant say the same for ETrade / Morgan Stanley. So, to recap: I highly recommend Schwab and DO NOT RECOMMEND EVER E*Trade NOR MORGAN STANLEY for your money!

U.S. Bank Branch - Walla Walla

James Tolson My partner does her banking here. Not a lot of staff here, at this location. But they make up for it with friendliness. The inside of the bank is pretty sterile but its a bank, so do not expect too much for ambience. We have been here when it has been extremely busy, so I would definitely stay away from here from 4:00 to 5:30 pm. I hope this helps you out.

Merrill Lynch Wealth Management - Tacoma

J H I started with inherited funds in a ML branch in Idaho; that branch sucked. Then I transferred all accounts to a ML branch in Federal Way; that branch was awesome. Then the Federal Way branch was merged with the Tacoma branch. (It is my understanding that almost all of the ML employees from the Federal Way branch quit shortly after the merger.) I haven’t asked much of the Tacoma branch - keep my funds where they are and make disbursements when I request. They have failed on the disbursements. The previous disbursement took far longer than it should have - they had cash on hand for several business days before they initiated a transferred to my bank - only after several of my voicemails inquiring about the status of the disbursement, and they never called back to give me any status reports. And, that disbursement was in the wrong amount: I asked for X gross and Y net after taxes; I got Y gross and Z net after taxes. The current disbursement appears to be headed in the same direction. I called and asked for a disbursement (Day 1); the following business day they sold some investments to have enough cash (Day 2); two business days to settle (Day3-4). Cash is on hand. It is now business Day 10 and still no indication of a pending transfer to my bank. I’m counting business days - not weekends or holidays. This time I’m not calling to inquire - I want to see how long they forget to do their job. And, if they aren’t doing the simple task of disbursements, what else aren’t they doing?
