1 /5 Linda Ward: I used Bryan Crew for several years to file our taxes (Formerly Strader Hallett). We recently received a notice regarding our 2022 taxes that we owed a large amount of money for a real estate transaction and it seemed as if there was a mix up. I forwarded the notification and he stated there was no error on his end but if we wanted him to reach out on our behalf we just needed to sign a power of attorney which we did. We then blindly received an invoice months later for $540. I have never worked with a company that lacks transparency like this and is not up front. I would expect a professional organization to give the hourly rates and ask if you would like to proceed. I called and spoke to their office Controller who at first seemed understanding and sent her all the correspondence between Bryan and I. She then called back and said she spoke to their manager and the charges would remain. She asked what I thought a fair amount would be, as if this was a negotiation. I told her I would have just liked transparency. I am sure that somewhere several years ago I signed something giving them a loop hole to get away with this and yes shame on me for not asking them to show me any documents I signed and operating in life as if everyone is out to pull one over on you. It feels gross and I wouldnt recommend doing business with a company who operates like this.
