1 /5 Dana Mongillo: My agent evidently passed my on to this group "Hub International" and the situation is less than stellar. First of all, they dont have their contact information on my homeowners policy like the last agency did. No phone number, no email--nothing. For any policy questions, I am to contact Safeco directly. Safeco has a circular Kafka-esque system. When I bought a vacation property, I tried to add it to my existing policy but couldnt so I ended up insuring that property with State Farm. I got a quote from State Farm for switching my home property over as well, and all that was super easy and efficient. Now I am trying to get a quote for adding earthquake coverage and more dwelling to my Safeco coverage and Safeco cannot find my policy! The policy number I have does not match anything in their system. Finally, after an hour of me struggling to accomplish what State Farm managed to do in 15 minutes, the poor Safeco customer service said, "I think you are going to need to call your agent." And I said "...this is the number the agent has to call." That was when I began to suspect that Hub International provides a low level of service. Is the main issue blocking me from managing my policy through Safeco a hub problem or a Safeco one? No idea! But I do know if they had given their contact info instead of Safecos, I might not be switching everything to State Farm tomorrow.
