1 /5 Jeremy Watson: Not sure what happened to Elmer, but we wont be going back. We loved that he was in the neighborhood, very reasonable, and seemed to be a decent guy. But today he overcharged me by 3x without any warning or real excuse.
Weve been going to him for years for everything. Weve had at least half a dozen rings sized there, watch bands and batteries, jewely repair, stones replaced, etc. 3 years ago, he charged $45 to resize a ring. Several times since, $45. One month ago, he charged $45. Today when I picked up another ring he disappeared to the back with my credit card and when he came back he had charged $135 to size a gold ring down 1/2 size!
When I asked why he had already charged so much to my card, his first excuse was "they charge way more in North Dallas." When I mentioned it was $45 a month ago, he said hed raised his prices to $75 because the price of gold went up. When I pointed out that he was DOWN sizing the ring and wouldnt have added any gold AND that $135 was still nearly double $75, he muttered something about "well, the stones on the side could have fallen off" whatever that means.
The crazy thing is that he resized this exact ring about 2 years ago for $45.
Its sad, he was a nice guy. But I cant go back to a place that just triples its prices after the fact without even a "sorry." And $135 to down size a ring 1/2 size seems a little ridiculous. If he had said that in the first place, we definitely would have gone somewhere else. Oh well, rob me once, shame on you. But we wont be giving him a secind chance.
