1 /5 Jennifer Jackson Berry: This agency wrote me a flood insurance policy for a second home along the Allegheny River. They wrote with tentative rates because they failed to gather all of the necessary information. Because they didnt gather this information, they were also able to charge the highest possible premium, which was in excess of $3000, which we had to come up with for our closing. Because they were tentative rates, they were also able to non-renew one year later. I went to another agency and got a policy for approximately $650/year. There were other issues at play -- elevation certificates, a remapping that occurred a month after our closing -- but they clearly took advantage of me because I was not familiar with the National Flood Insurance Program.
