I spoke with multiple agents over the course of several months about moving my car loan to a different bank and no one thought to inform me of the buy out fee. When I called to ensure they had sent my title to my new bank I was told they would not release the title until the fee was paid. It all seemed very intentional and an easy way to ensure they could make a little more money.
