Unfortunately, divorces are a common byproduct of our modern living and blended extended families. When I was served with divorce papers I was lucky to have an attorney recommend Lisa P. Kirby, in Naples, FL, to navigate me through the difficult legal process.
My divorce was complex in that it was a bicoastal filing in Florida while I resided in California. We had properties in both states as well as a host of other legal issues that needed to be addressed.
Lisa’s incomparable knowledge of the family law courts is amazing. She was able to outline the proper strategy with realistic expectations all while keeping me apprised of all the details throughout the preliminary stages. This was especially important since I did not actually meet Lisa until the day before trial.
Lisa’s trial demeanor is brilliant as it reveled her character and integrity. She skillfully covered each point and is well versed in case law, which she used throughout the trial. However, we were wholly ruled against by the trial Judge, The Honorable Joseph G. Foster, and Lisa was quick to say that we should appeal to the Second District Court.
Thanks to her confidence and legal expertise we were successful in the Appellate Court with a reversal on a key property issue. The resulting ruling,
Nelson v. Nelson, 189 So.3d 788 (Fla. Dist. Ct. App. 2016)
is now apart of the Florida Case Law and has been written up in dozens of legal publications. This case is now used as the benchmark for family law and trust attorneys throughout the state.
This process took 2.5 years to complete. I would not have traversed this legal maze successfully without the steadfast support of Lisa P. Kirby, the finest family law attorney in southern Florida.
