1 /5 Seth Brown: I had a terrible experience at Keys Federal Credit Union, which ultimately led me to close my account. I went in to report ACH fraud on my account, and instead of getting help, I was met with complete disrespect from a representative named Ruby. She actually called me a liar to my face and even used air quotes when dismissing my concerns. When I asked if someone could commit fraud using just a member number, she insisted, “They would ask many questions,” as if fraud was nearly impossible.
Funny enough, later that day, my friend, Ben, called the bank to get his account number, and the only thing they asked him for was his five-digit member number. That’s it. No extra security questions. In a small branch where you have to say your number out loud in a line full of people, that’s not exactly secure.
Between the lack of knowledge on fraud prevention and the outright rude attitude, I had enough. I closed my account, and after I told Ben about my experience, he decided to do the same and move to Bank of America. If you value good customer service and basic banking security, I’d look elsewhere.
