1 /5 Keri R: I’ve visited this store several times over the years, and while the experience was never particularly remarkable, it was always fine—until today. I walked in with my boyfriend, who is a person of color, and we were the only customers in the store. We received no greeting—only cold stares. As we browsed politely, we noticed the two women working whispering to each other while watching us closely, creating an atmosphere that felt suspicious and unwelcoming.
What made the situation even more blatant was when a group of white (or white-passing) shoppers walked in shortly after. They were immediately greeted warmly and offered assistance—none of the coldness or scrutiny we experienced. The contrast was undeniable and deeply disappointing.
I had intended to purchase a ring I’d been considering for some time, but after such an uncomfortable and frankly discriminatory experience, I will not be giving this business my money. It’s clear that not all patrons are treated equally here.
If you’re shopping for jewelry in the South Lake area and value respectful, inclusive service, I recommend taking your business elsewhere. No one should have to question whether they’re being profiled when simply trying to shop.:(
