1 /5 C D: I went into this establishment and sold some silver coins, after selling them I mentioned that I had some gold nuggets from Australia, Mexico, Alaska, Montana and Denver, that weighed up to 12grams in total. Keep in mind I purchased these online and have receipts and video receipts of the purchases because they were purchased from what not. If you’re unaware gold nuggets that are mined from these places have purity of at least 90% and up to 98%.
Kahn, is the employee that works there and he mentioned that he needs authorization to melt gold, but he still melted it for me with no hesitation. He poured it out the raw nuggets and weighed it. It was “10 grams”, that should’ve been the red flag right there, but we proceeded. He said he would buy after finding out what the purity is.
Less then 10min later, Kahn comes out with a little clean bar which I found pretty odd because the process was too fast to melt the gold and clean within that time frame. Also the gold was cold to the touch. I guess another red flag. He then proceeded to test it with a machine that looks like a gun and says it’s around 75% pure and that it’s around 19karat.
So, I said ok can you buy this now since we know it’s value and he said no I have no need for it. This made me feel very uncertain and nervous as if I was getting ripped off. I felt like a victim. I was uncertain and the room got awkwardly quite. Also he never gave me a receipt for any of this. As if I was thief trying to make a quick buck.
I should have been more responsible when doing business with Kahn and his associate but I thought he was a nice honest person since I’ve sold at least 15-20 silver graded coins to him. It’s unfortunate that this happened and I hope anyone else who decides to business with Kahn doesn’t go through what I did.
