Christopher Thom: Allstate Insurance - Monterey (CA)

1 /5 Nicky Thomas: I am deeply disappointed with this Allstate office. I have been a policy holder for 20+ years. Up until the past year I have never filed a claim. A blown tire on 1 of my vehicles added an extra $100 per month to my monthly payment. Then in the following 6 months my policy jumped another $100 per month. Just renewed again only to discover it jumped $150 per month and the 1st 2 payments were taken out of my account close to $2000. I have tried calling numerous times only to get sent to an operator in south Africa. I called to let Thoms office know that my husband had passed away and I needed to remove his name from the policy. I was informed that because he passed away my insurance would go up another $300. ???. I am actively looking for new insurance.

5 /5 Benjamin Roberts: Fortunately, I have not had to file insurance claims in some time. I am 78 years old, and have been insured with Allstate since the age of 14. I have been a client of the Christopher Thom agency for many years and feel that I can chat personally with Christopher and his staff when I have a question or need advice/information about insurance issues.

1 /5 markbc1: NOT RECOMMENDED Surprised that Chris Thom, or his advertising bot, sent us a request for a recommendation. Chris Thom, Allstate insurance, carried the policy for our HOA for many years. - It was always difficult to get an appointment to meet with him, since he rarely was in the office or available. - When pinned down, he was equivocal on coverage questions and provided tepid recommendations -compared with similar discussions with other commercial agents our HOA has worked with. - Our AllState contract required the carrier to provide a hard copy of the policy annually; but we received just one copy in more than 8 years that I was dealing with Mr. Thom. That copy was requested by us several times. - Several years ago, AllState cancelled our HOA coverage with zero advance notice given by Chris Thom. The only indication was that our monthly autopayments stopped being collected. - Our HOA had to track him down, and his excuse was “we sent you a notice 90 days ago.” [Our PO Box/mail system processes bills, monthly payments, and assorted issues without issue or failure. We had ZERO notice or contact from AllState --and less from Chris Thom. Bottom line: 1. AllState does not seem keen to insure -low risk [one (small) claim in 8 years] HOAs in California. 2. More to the point: Chris Thom’s communications, work ethic, and results -at least in dealing with our HOA, were terrible. I would not recommend any dealings with Chris Thom on serious matters or business.

5 /5 Irene Bradle: When our truck got stolen and police found it really messed up, All-State took care of all expenses to have our truck repaired in a very timely manner. Christopher Thom always took the time to meet with us to address all and every one of our concerns. A wonderful Insurance company that we highly reccomend.
