Heritage Bank - Anacortes (WA)

5 /5 Busky Gogo: Heritage Burlington branch stepped up and provided me with a small business loan where none of the 6 other banks I had visited gave me the time of day. I have since sold the business and paid off the loan in full but my experience with them for the 7 years we were in business was all positive. Being a first time business owner I had many questions and they were always very willing to answer them and guided me through the process all the way. I now use the Anacortes branch for personal use and have had good experiences with them as well.

5 /5 Thinking4 myself2day: Today Anacortes branch asst manager called...closed my checking acct/ debit card. I am relocating out of state,to help a longtime friend. She wired money to pay movers the pick up fee, then she wired misc money to help with cross country drive. Bank refused to give me last wire, said it was fraudulent. So, now I am out of my rental in car with animals and uhaul trailer without gas cash and a closed acct. 2 days into cross country drive, asst manager calls from Anacortes Herritage branch, i am being investigated for fraudulent activity etc. I asked to speak with manager told she would call me. Manager, had serious attitude- said I was a criminal, with criminal associates and activities Shown by report from fraud department, I even had a po box! I loved this bank, but the ignorance and lack of professionalism is intolerable. IAvoid this bank, they dont care about you as a customer at all. Liz, Anacortes branch manager is totally lacking in professionalism and quick in personal judgements. After relocating, my friend and i visied her bank manager who felt that this was all on Heritage Bank. This credit union manager, Lynn even offered to call Heritages fraud department to help explain the wire transfers were jmoving expenses. Seriously DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BANK! Fraud department told me I could keep account and they were unsure what happened, but no apology ever. Truly a dismal experience.

1 /5 Linda Ryan: Im only giving 1 star because Im required to. Heritage bank USED to be a great local bank. Then 2008 hit and they took bailout money and it went downhill quickly from there. I went in to close my Moms accounts as we had moved her to a better bank. Once we started the process they started taking $8 a month OUT of her checking account. Shes 89 and on a fixed income. I spoke with their 800 customer service number and the lady I spoke with was great and she told me that the $16 that had been charged over two months could be reversed. SO, taking that knowledge and after I had made sure that all incoming money was coming into the new account, I went to the Anacortes branch and told them I wanted to close the account. They wanted to know why (ummm, none of your business to be honest) and that their customer service department had told me that the $16 could be refunded back to my Mom. Nora tried to tell me that no it couldnt be but I insisted. They finally refunded the $16 but begrudginly and I closed the account. Do yourself a favor and bank ALMOST anywhere else. They are still not as bad as BofA or Wells Fargo or Chase but they are pretty close.

1 /5 Charles Teague: I have been using the Heritage Bank on Commercial in Anacortes for some time to obtain quarters for doing my laundry and was always treated with respect and served with a smile even when I had been given Canadian quarters in a home packed roll of quarters. This last time I got my quarters as usual and found a nickle in a roll and returned to exchange it for a quarter. This time I was treated like criminal or something. The person at the window asked if I had an account. I had never been asked that question before after years of coming to get quarters. I do not have and account there and after the way I was treated will never have one there. The person at the window informed me that this one time they would exchange my nickle for a quarter but from now on they would not. That was tantamount to telling me that their policy was to not give me what I had paid for. Now I find that the other roll of quarters contained a Canadian quarter, which is useless to me and not what I paid for. What is my recourse? Small claims court? Call the cops with fraudulent transaction charge? Go back and see if they really meant? This bank as already lost me as a potential customer and I hope the review will discourage others from using this bank as well.
