1 /5 Natasha Lane: Until this point, I had no issue with Colonial Life. I set up my account with them through my employer a little over a year ago and the right amount was withdrawn each month. Initially, I spoke to a sales rep a few times and had a good experience. No complaints. However, thats apparently no longer the standard.
Before the holidays I contacted Colonial about cashing out because I had left my employer. Two sales representatives told me I would be receiving a small check, sent me a document to sign, and it seemed fine. I came back from the holidays and there was no check. I waited a few days because of holiday mail, then decided to contact them and now am being told I am not getting a check. I asked if I could be connected to the two representatives I spoke with before and was told since my policy was cancelled no one would be able to see if a check should have been issued, so it was of no use. I told the person I spoke with that this was odd (several times) because I had been told twice before the holiday that I would receive a check. Now Im being told that is not the case and that if I want them to investigate I can fax (yes, fax) a written document to them.
The check was a small amount but its extremely frustrating because I feel as if Im being pulled in multiple directions and that there is a lack of honesty on Colonials part. Of course, Im one person, theyre an entire company, and they know the loopholes and jargon while I do not, so Im at a disadvantage. That said, I will use what little power I have to criticize Colonial Life because this is ridiculous.
