1 /5 Amanda Stephens: After my Dad died, I called in soon after to have him removed from policies for my Mom and also to notify of his passing. Once he was removed, they instantly raised my Mom’s insurance rates. When it came time for my Mom to renew her auto and home policies, she mailed her checks in (on time) in April. She was not notified until August via mail that one of her policies was going to be terminated soon due to no payment. I called in for her to inquire and was told that they never received the other check (they were in the same envelope). We then renewed over the phone and was told that they charged us too much on my card, so to expect a refund in about 3-4 weeks.
This was a very stressful time overall for my Mom and I, and we do not feel like we were provided good quality service. To top it off, my Mom decided to cancel and switch to State Farm. I received an email on my Dad’s account from the insurance broker, Robin Moore, addressed to my Dad stating that the policies have been cancelled. He was the one I was communicating with this whole time. I wrote back and reminded him that my Dad has been deceased for almost two years. No response from him or apology. My recommendation is to be a bit more sensitive to your clients, Basin Insurance.
