1 /5 Ann Amberley (Amberley): EDIT FROM TWO YEARS AGO- they havent changed, as I didnt ever expect them to! Ive been to this pawn shop several times over the years, and unfortunately, the experience has never been positive. The offers are consistently insulting — no room for negotiation, just take-it-or-leave-it lowballs. I completely agree with other reviewers: the customer service is cold, judgmental, and unwelcoming.
Let me be clear — I’m a white woman, and even I felt the atmosphere of entitlement and condescension the moment I walked in. Boerne is a privileged town, and it shows in how this business treats people who walk in without a Rolex or a $90,000 truck.
Most recently, my husband and I brought in a 65" Smart TV (2020 model, excellent condition, with remote and TV stands) — retail is $750 new. They offered us $150. Fine — that’s their choice. But once we declined, they suddenly became nitpicky about the screws (which cost a few bucks on Amazon) and said it wouldnt matter anyway — the offer was still the same.
Worse? They made my husband carry the TV in and out by himself — no assistance, not even someone holding the door. The door opens inward, so watching him struggle while they smirked and giggled felt incredibly disrespectful. He even overheard one of them say, “I was wondering how he was going to get that out.” Disgusting.
We ended up selling the TV for $450 at another Money Mart location in San Antonio — no hassle, no judgment, no games.
Save yourself the frustration. This shop lowballs, lacks basic decency, and makes you feel uncomfortable the entire time youre there. It’s the same story, year after year — and based on how they treat people, I don’t see it changing anytime soon.
