1 /5 Stephen Gennarelli: Weve carried AARP New York Life Insurance for my Mother for her burial expenses for many years now. My Mother finally passed away a few weeks ago after a long battle with Dementia. We had to use a Credit Card to pay for her Funeral Expenses assuming that NY Life/AARP would be right behind us and reimburse us promptly. Instead here we are 4 weeks later, playing phone games and getting promises from John Hughes, Tampa District Claims Manager, that our check will be overnighted, after initially issuing the check to the wrong address. Weve been playing this game for days now. Each day we are being charged more interest on our Credit Card as we wait for this check to arrive. I am beyond upset. My wife has hives knowing that we will be paying much more out of pocket (which we do not have), because of New York Life Insurance/AARPs inept lack of caring in what should be a simple transaction. Your company certainly did a good job cashing our premium check each month. Now that its time to receive our payout, there is no help, no assistance, no check. I am disgusted. To anyone reading this who is choosing a Life Insurance plan, choose your plan wisely. Pick a company that has good reviews and that has empathy for their Customers.
