NBT Bank - Norwich (NY)

1 /5 Deborah Provenzano: I have deposited the same business check around the first of the month into one my business accounts for at least 8 years. This month NBT put a 7 day hold on it. They were kind enough to mail a letter to me to inform me of the 7 day hold to which I received 8 days later - 6 business days. Business customers since January 2007.

1 /5 Lloyd Elm: Mistakes with their scanning equipment has caused deposits to disappear from the account MULTIPLE times, which has caused a lot of problems over the weekend when they weren’t open to fix their mistake. Daily balances are very slow to be updated and often incorrect which makes it hard to track expenses. They took zero financial responsibility for a teller error that caused financial loss. Simply saying “sorry” doesn’t make a bit of difference when the loss is the customer’s money and time. They are friendly but they are not a reliable bank. Would NOT recommend.

1 /5 Katherine Cossette: Absolutely the worst bank ever. The online banking apparently takes holidays as well. Deposited a check should of been there instantly still waiting on it. So now I have to figure out how to pay all my bills while I wait for nbt to get there shit together. My husbands ex wife was able to make the online banking account and NBT took zero responsibility for this.

1 /5 Pete Matthew: Banked with nbt for 2 years and its been more of a hassle then anything. I noticed that a couple hundred dollars was "mysteriously" reversed out of my account back to paypal without any authorization. Best part, paypal said they never did it and it wasnt in my paypal account. Called to see why, and of course nobody had answers. Paypal told me the bank is the one who reversed it, NBT put it back the next morning after being told it wasnt them. And this is after 5 different phone calls with over 20 minutes of waiting time each time. Even with the call back feature, they call you when its your turn but you answer the phone just to wait another 20 damn minutes. I asked if my account is compromised, her exact words were its 100% secure. So i called to really try and get to the bottom of things, and the lady really asked me if I gave anyone my banking info??? Like yea I posted it online for the world to see lady. She would never let me finish talking and constantly just talking over me. And then she goes on to tell me that over a month ago someone tried getting into my account from Georgia. I never been to Georgia and youre just telling me this now????? So much for my account being 100% secure. Thanks. So after this 360 bucks went missing out of my account and no answer to why, they locked my account and told me to open a new one or close it. Well thats an easy decision. They said come in and well close it down. Went to the bank, tried closing it just to find out I couldnt. Dont rely on these guys for anything. I cant tell you how many times theyd allow walmart to put a hold on my money after I already paid walmart. They said its standard. How is it standard to pay 250$ for groceries but you need over 500$ to actually purchase 250$ dollars worth of groceries? Id make a purchase online, pay for the purchase. Then a day or two later theres a hold on a couple hundred bucks for a purchase already bought and paid for??? So go ahead, if you want someone else to have control over your money and no answers or the run around give nbt your money. The only person who really showed compassion and actually helped me out was a lady by the name of Erica. She actually cared and called me back personally each time to update me about the situation. But if it wasnt for her, Im sure Id still be missing over 300 bucks. The 4 other girls I talked to about it did nothing, just kept saying they dont know. Had 0 answers. Didnt have any advice what i should do. But thank you Erica, you actually helped!
