1 /5 Trent Hester: On Saturday, 12/12/2020, I stopped at this branch to use the ATM. I am an Ameris Bank customer—but have my home financed with Renasant Bank. The ATM took my card and would not return it, nor did I get the option of getting the cash that I intended.
I called Renasant on Saturday and was informed that there was nothing that they could do in that moment since the branch was closed, but that someone would get back to me on Monday. This is already unacceptable, but I’ll continue.
I waited until the branch opened Monday morning and went to get my card back. When I told them what happened, I was informed that my card cannot be returned and that it will be shredded.
This is no different than theft.
What if I wasn’t from the area and couldn’t go and get another card? Or, for that matter, what if that card was my only form of money and I was on a long trip? The bank would have stolen my property and left me with no way to remedy the issue.
The lady that I spoke with was very nice and professional, but didn’t have the power or authority to make any change. You need to change this policy immediately. If I have a valid license and can prove the card is mine, it should be returned without hesitation.
Absolutely ridiculous.
