1 /5 R. Rigsby: Firstly, and most critical, this review is aimed specifically at State Farm Insurance and not the group at Pam Roehls office, who are a great team of folks who do their best to help.
As for the State Farm Insurance company, they finally rank dead last on our list. We purchased auto policies from them, as well as a homeowners policy. Their opening rates were competitive and they entice by offering a multitude of discounts, but not even several months later we began to see rate hikes regardless of the fact that we had no claims and perfect driving records.
When we finally called to complain, we were given a patent reason that it was due to "multiple factors." Regardless, the rate hikes continued to occur until we had finally had enough. The homeowners policy, however, had remained stable over the years throughout the continuing rising costs of our auto policy.
When we cancelled the auto policies, we were shocked to find that our homeowners policy suddenly began to reflect increases and leaped in cost by a full 20%, not because of a loss in discount but the reason again was expressed to us as "inflation and other factors.
We immediately secured a homeowners policy through a different company and cancelled our State Farm policy. Were done with State Farm for good and from what other people are telling us, a lot of folks are experiencing the same multiple rate hikes and subsequently switching from State Farm to other insurance providers.
State Farm needs to know that their apparent poor management of policy provisions is not recoverable by simply siphoning those costs from the pockets of their clients. As consumers, we have a choice in who provides our insurance and we wont stand for it.
