1 /5 Kimberly Bowman: The ABSOLUTE worst experience of our lives, dealing with this company after going through a traumatic fire. The adjuster they sent has been a total nightmare to deal with, so much so that we had to go and get an attorney. The fire was caused by a heating & air company coming in and setting the house on fire. We thought if we went with our own insurance company (Georgia Farm Bureau) instead of theirs, that we would have that extra layer of protection. That has been the total opposite of what weve gotten. The heating and air companies own adjuster said the best thing to do would be just to tear it down and start over. He said that to us the very first day that we met him. However, Its been OVER a year and a half now, and were still fighting with Georgia Farm Bureau. We were Not protected, she did the exact opposite of what their insurance company recommended. The very first thing the adjuster had them do was take the sheets off all of the beds so they could "wash them"; they came back with soot stains (pictures attached). So instead of trying to get out what furniture or antiques were in the house that had been passed down from parents & grandparents that had sentimental value, they saved the sheets off the beds? We tried to tell the adjuster that the sheets were ruined, but she said we had to take it up with the sub contractor shed recommended, so we sent them back thinking okay theyd see the stains and that they were ruined, but oh no, we were told the sheets were "Just Fine" The company that tried to clean our clothes hid dryer sheets in everything, pockets, hoods, socks, I actually showed the adjuster when she came by our rental house, we let her smell how bad everything theyd sent back smelled, she said yeah, it still smelled like the fire, but shed never heard of them putting dryer sheets in the clothes and looked at us like we were lying. Why would we waste hundreds of dryer sheets when you could plainly smell how bad everything was? This has been a nightmare, compounded by having an adjuster that only protected her Sub Contractors. She recommended Serv Pro and Only serv Pro, we didnt know anything about anyone else so we went with her suggestions, they came in and did a horrendous job, even sending us reports of what was saved and what wasnt saved with the exact same items on them. I spent days trying to get the adjuster to just read those reports so she could see there was a major problem. We still to this day have no idea what was actually saved from our home! We tried asking for new reports so that we could claim items that hadnt been saved, but the Adjuster told us to "just do the best we could" The adjuster would not listen to our builder we brought in that had over 20 years of experience, nor would she listen to the county inspector, nor a structural engineer we had to pay for. Her repair company, that she recommended came in and met with us and our attorneys, and guess what, he said he could get her to listen! Thats not right! Georgia Farm Bureau does NOT have to match the brick on your home, it only has to be similar. Our home is 4 sided brick, 3 of those sides had to come down, the brick had been discontinued; the adjuster recommended hiding the different brick with down spouts from the gutters. When we questioned her about the value of our home decreasing when we had to disclose our home was in a major fire and 75% - 85% of the home had to be repaired she said " you wont have any issues, there wont be a difference in the valuation". Does anyone believe that?
We have a crawl space, it took 3 fire trucks 5 hours to put out the fire. There was 2 to 3 feet of standing water in the crawl space. We asked the adjuster if they would pump it out, we were worried about mold, she asked us to let them do their job and to stay out. Guess what, mold all under the house because the water sat for months. The fire Chief had everyone stay out of the home for almost 6 weeks by the time we got back in everything was full of mold.
