We were privileged to have her professional expertise and guidance as we needed to revise our estate plan that had not been revised since 1997. The process is complicated and requires much legal knowledge. Yuka is an excellent listener and patiently answered all of our questions and guided us through the process. It gives us great peace knowing that when the time comes when we will need this information that our affairs have been so brilliantly compiled and organized. She explained everything from the preparation of documents to the court procedures in an easy-to-understand manner, and handled all the work over a period of nearly two years accurately. Along the way, she provided clear, swift, and accurate support when I exchanged questions via email. Although the case involved both Japan and the US, Ms. Ohashi is very knowledgeable and always considers her clients feelings, which was very reassuring. I hope to continue receiving assistance from her in the future.

5 /5 Michael W: Due to various changes in our life and laws, to update our living trust and will had been way overdue. We didn’t want to go back to the original attorney for updating. And didn’t know who the right attorney for us is, was the main reason of delay. Changing the attorney triggered a need to create RESTATEMENT of our existing living trust. We believe it is well worth the efforts. After a long research, we chose attorney Ms. Yuka Merritt at Merritt Law. She did great services and job, provided us a very thorough and organized package with very fair fee. She would accommodate the client wishes for the interface. In our case, we chose the most efficient way. All interfaces were through Zoom meeting, email and secured portal, except the final document signing at her office. She explained all the pros and cons on the relevant living trust options based on the current laws and tax regulations in details; narrowed down the best options for us to choose. Since she charges on hourly basis, to minimize unnecessary chatting and do the homework certainly would help saving. She was very efficient, and yet a very friendly, considerate and caring person. Even though we only knew two attorneys, it has been quite a different experience from our previous one. We are very thankful and happy with her work. We did sleep much better.

Shes different from other Estate planning and probate attorneys because she is a native Japanese speaker and bilingual in English. I highly recommend her if you want to pass down your assets and not be subject to probate.

Although it was in the midst of the Pandemic, it went very well with Zoom, email, and phone calls to avoid in-person meetings until the day we needed to sign the papers. She was very considerable to her clients.
