1 /5 alex: My husband and I used Laughlin Legal as one of our two firms for our pre-nup/PMA. The brief review is that we did not have a good experience, and we would recommend going elsewhere, especially if your case is not complicated. Detailed review: We did not have a choice in lawyers here; Our lawyer was assigned. Our lawyer here was the reviewing lawyer, double the price of our drafting lawyer, and half as professional. We felt like an afterthought, and progress on our pre-nup was held up significantly by the slow response of the firm. We ended up finalizing the PMA a full month later than what we had agreed upon. We both found the firm difficult to communicate with, as did our other lawyer. When the lawyer finally did review the pre-nup, they were unprofessional when discussing the job that our other lawyer did with drafting the PMA. Additionally, the pricing system feels deceptive here. This is the only firm I have worked with where you don’t exclusively pay out of the retainer. Instead, we were charged hundreds of dollars outside of it, before depleting it completely in the last month. Our lawyer here charged $680/hr, $3500 retainer. In total it ended up costing us around $6300. This lawyer, as the reviewing one, did significantly less work than our other lawyer, who drafted the PMA. The drafting lawyer at the other firm charged $450/hr, $5000 retainer. They ended up costing us about $3000 in total. Ultimately, we are happy with our pre-nup/PMA, but we wished we had worked with a different firm.
