1 /5 Gene Carter: Just drove to De Tagles. Sign says “ Knock and wait.” I knocked and waited. Then knocked again a bit more loudly. Whoever owns the store is from a part of the world where people skills are not taught well. The man who came to the door opened with “I heard you the first time. You didn’t need to knock so loudly the second time.” I thought to myself mmmm…perhaps if you had had your entrance unlocked or if you had opened the door. more quickly, then I wouldn’t have had to knock a second time or knock at all. But I didn’t say a word. Not a word. His tone of voice showed a little too much irritation. Then he added,”I’m busy.” That told me everything I needed to know.. I backed away without speaking to him at all.
I don’t know about other customers, but I’m not accustomed to being spoken to in that tone of voice. He clearly saw me as an irritation. After all, he himself said clearly,” I’m busy.”
There is a number of other jewelers/watch repair businesses near this shop. I should add that I’ve been a customer of De Tagle’s for about 24 years. But now I know they have outgrown their need for my patronage. Good luck.
