1 /5 L J: This used to be a really great post office under a really nice and "go the extra mile" lady postmaster who really had a community attitude and was a problem solver if there was an issue with a mixed up delivery. Something major has changed since she left.
Either they dont have enough USPS trucks, or they dont have any, for delivering packages. Delivery persons must use their own vehicles which are not large enough for all of the packages for the area, especially ones a bit larger, so they are left out of the delivery, for the addressee to have to pick up at the post office counter, which may explain the long lines that so many here complain about. So, they dont have room for your package and dont put it in the vehicle, then post on Amazon or wherever that "there was a problem with the delivery to your address" and you dont get any notice of attempted delivery at your door or in your mailbox because there really wasnt an attempted delivery at all. This occurs when the weather is sunny and dry. The truth is, they couldnt fit it in with the other packages, because theres not enough room for all the packages in the drivers personal vehicle, so theres no vehicle that can bring your package. Then its up to the customer to figure out why USPS had a problem delivering the package. And when you call the post office they are sometimes less than pleasant. Apparently, they also dont have enough clerks to handle the number of customers that they have either.
PO Boxes: I have a PO Box with the USPS since the 1990s but recently closed it because, not only did they keep filling my PO box with other boxholders mail, and mail from the previous boxholder, but they sent an email notice that my po box was too full and said that my box would be closed or I could rent a larger box or pay extra for them to do something else. They set the "box full" email notification on "auto notify" so that the notification automatically kept notifying me that the box was full, for 2-3 months after that, when it was not full. I contacted the postmaster by phone and was told he didnt get around to checking the boxes but that he "goes by the book". I told him I wouldnt be renewing my po box rental.
Important and absolutely essential government mail has very often been misdelivered to someone else, and who know what other mail of mine, has been delivered to the wrong address.
Damage: Items often arrive dented, damaged or broken, and sometimes are lost all together. When I contacted the post office by phone about a $45 item that was badly damaged, I was spoken to very rudly and then hung up on.
They either need more pleasant people working there, and more people, and actual USPS trucks for deliveries, and to be more careful or maybe Amazon, Ebay, and other companies that mail packages need to stop using USPS all together and USPS can just shut their doors, because most bills are sent electronically and other than government mail and junk mail, package delivery has to be the main source of revenue and support.
