2 /5 Swimnbud: After about a week STCU had remedied the problems, but a much more serious problem is now apparent. When STCU mails a physical bill payment check, they take the money from the customer account regardless of whether the check has been cashed. This means that if the check is lost, STCU will just keep your money and you wont even know that the money is missing until the person or business comes looking for you and claims that you are not paying your bills. All banks and credit unions have an an option to do this, or to remove the money when the check has cleared. Imagine if you made your insurance payment via bill pay. STCU shows that the payment was made on your account statement, you then have a heart attack and your insurance company denies your $200,000 surgery because they didnt cash your $200 bill pay check.

The transition to STCU has not gone well. We have multiple letters telling us that our Community Bank login credentials would work no later than 05.12.2025. Now the site says that we cannot login without our STCU member number. STCU has not provided that number yet, but guaranteed us that we would have it by 05.11.2025. We have bills to pay and no paper checks and no way to log in. With Community Bank you could call a branch for help. STCU has routed every branch number to their main hold que. I have been on hold for 3 hours. Why use a "local" credit union if they are going to use a corporate hold system? I have no idea either. No I am looking at late fees because I cant pay my bills and cant get anyone to answer the phone. Really a huge fail by STCU. Since they wont even let me talk to a branch or answer the phone, we will be looking for a new bank for all of our familys accounts.
