1 /5 MaryGrace H: I’m genuinely disturbed by how my consultation experience unfolded. The consultation only lasted 30 minutes because I asked for a refund, he offered half back, meaning I still paid $187 for just half an hour. Considering I’m currently unemployed, that’s not a small amount. It felt like I paid to be talked over and dismissed, not supported.
If someone is paying $375 for just one hour, it’s reasonable to expect professionalism, empathy, and thoughtful advice. Instead, I walked away feeling dismissed, invalidated, and, frankly, insulted.
Patrick K. made me feel completely unheard. He cut me off multiple times as I tried to explain the details of my situation, showing little patience or interest.
At one point, he said something along the lines of, “Everyone has some form of mental illness,” which came off as incredibly dismissive. Whether or not those were his exact words, the message was clear: my concerns weren’t being taken seriously. Emotional intelligence may be marketed as a business skill now, but it should be a natural part of being human. Unfortunately, his response made it painfully obvious, he lacked both.
Comments like that are part of the problem, not the solution. This kind of attitude is exactly why so many people hesitate to seek help in the first place.
For a firm that charges premium rates, I expected far more than rushed judgments and generalized, insensitive remarks. It’s disheartening that in 2025, we still encounter professionals who treat mental health with such disregard. I left with more frustration than clarity and $187 lighter. Shameful. I would NOT recommend Patrick K. for Employment law. Seek elsewhere that’s provides a free consultation.

I’m standing by my original experience, but I’m updating this to reflect how Jason handled the situation. He stepped in with professionalism, kindness & empathy. He asked how the situation could be made better, he gave me an option if I wanted to explain more of my experience and that alone, gives a safe space for clients to want to express themselves more. Jason provided referrals to another attorney & my full refund. That’s how you do business with purpose, not just for profits.
You won’t always get exactly what you came for, but people will always remember how you made them feel. Jason understood that.

Update – August 6, 2025:
Rating reduced to one star. The second portion of my refund was issued a full week later than the first refund, a delay that was both unnecessary and avoidable.
