1 /5 Jamie Forster: Formal Complaint: Mercedes-Benz Financial Services Misconduct & Damages
Summary of Issues:
When I purchased my vehicle through Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, they were responsible for sending a check to the California DMV for registration purposes.
That check bounced, and I was blocked from renewing my registration and ID by the DMV.
Attempts to Resolve & Mercedes-Benzs Denial:
I called Mercedes-Benz Financial Services three separate times to resolve the issue. Each time, I was told they had no idea what I was talking about.
I was forced to take a day off work to visit the California Records Office and schedule a meeting with the Dishonored Check Division.
The Division confirmed that Mercedes-Benz Financial Services bounced the check and that they had sent multiple notices to Mercedes-Benz, all of which were ignored.
Despite this, Mercedes-Benz continued to deny wrongdoing until I set up another meeting where I had the California Department of Records speak directly to Mercedes-Benz.
Only after being confronted by a government agency did Mercedes-Benz acknowledge their error and the prior notices.
Damages & Broken Promises:
Mercedes-Benz promised to FedEx me a check before my birthday on May 30 so I could renew my ID in time for a nightclub event I planned and paid for.
That check never arrived.
I lost my deposit on the nightclub and caterer, and my birthday was ruined because I could not get into the venue without a valid ID.
It has now been over four weeks, and I still have not received the check.
Ongoing Harm:
I cannot legally drive my vehicle due to the expired tags, and I still do not have my renewed ID.
I have been forced to rely entirely on Uber, draining my personal finances unnecessarily.
Despite being told that my car payment would be waived for the month due to the inconvenience, I was charged anyway this morning.
The representative assigned to my case was pulled off without informing me, and no one followed up.
When I called today for an update, I was told the issue had been "elevated," but no contact information was provided and no one could confirm who it was elevated to.
When I expressed my frustration, the customer service representative hung up on me
