3 /5 omegap white: My husband recently received his first paycheck from a local company, issued as a paper check drawn on First Financial Bank. To avoid a hold at his own bank, he decided to cash it directly at First Financial. While I am a First Financial customer, he is not.
When he presented the check to the teller, along with his driver’s license and work badge, the teller wrote on the front and back of the check and then informed him they couldn’t cash it. When he asked for the reason, they refused to provide an explanation.
Frustrated, he left the bank lobby, went to his car, and called his employer. His employer admitted they had forgotten to add him to the payroll system and advised him to wait 2-3 minutes before trying again. After 5 minutes, he returned to the bank and was finally able to cash the check—a relatively small amount.
I’m disappointed in how my bank handled such a simple issue. Waxahachie isn’t a large town, so the teller could have easily called his employer to verify the information instead of leaving him in the dark. They also could have explained the problem to him upfront so he could resolve it while still in the lobby. It’s unfortunate that such a minor issue was managed so poorly.
