1 /5 Angie Parker: I recently contacted Amax Insurance to obtain a quote for my 2011 Lexus. During my conversation with Elsa, she gathered my VIN number to verify my vehicle and provided me with a competitive quote. We completed the process, and I sent her pictures of my car. The initial payment required was nearly $300, which depleted my account. After printing my ID cards and sending proof of insurance to the bank financing my vehicle, I discovered that I was insured for a Chevrolet Impala instead of my Lexus, which I hoped was just a simple error.
I promptly called Elsa back at Amax, and while on hold, I learned that a mistake had indeed occurred. When she returned to the line, she informed me that I would only owe an additional six dollars, but my monthly premium would exceed $200—essentially the same amount as my car loan payment. I firmly declined this offer and requested a refund, as I needed the funds to secure a better quote with another insurer.
It has now been 11 days, and my refund has yet to be processed. I made it clear from the outset that I couldnt proceed with insurance until this issue was resolved. I don’t believe I should be held responsible for the error on their part, especially considering the risk of receiving an expensive ticket.
