1 /5 nick duquette: My family called Diane Tiveron regarding a custody dispute. This was an unusual circumstance where a cousins child was left at my parents house for 3yr before the father decided that him and his new girlfriend wanted to be parents now that the child was 13yr old. Diane put us with her "most senior" family court attorney Ed. Ed seemed nice, sadmitted that we had an uphill battle but he was confident that we could prove extreme circumstance. After the first court date we are assigned a new attorney because Ed had "left the office". New attorney Gary is very aggressive and seems confident that he can show everything he needs to win the case, great lets go. after the second court date we are informed that Gary has been let go from the office for being unethical in his practice. Attorney number three, Joe is on the case and familiar with it, although less aggressive Joe is equally as confident that he can win the case. 4th court appearance comes and Joe isnt there, someone is there to represent our family as Joe was accidentally double booked that day. approaching court appearance number 5 and we receive a call from a 5th attorney now handling the same case. She states that she is the newly assigned attorney. When we ask why there seems to be a revolving door of representation, she replies in a snarky manner that this happens all the time and we arent familiar with how law works. She then states that there is no way we will win the case and should take the settlement offer which is visitation on holidays. At this point 80% of our representation believed we could win the case while 20% dont - keep in mind this is 5 attorneys from the same office. Apparently there has been some closed door meeting with the attorneys and the judge where the judge stated to all of the attorneys that there is no way my family will win the case. This result would be easier to understand and accept if we were not on the 5th attorney and over a year into the process having met every requirement in every other hearing to move forward. Not to mention the over $10,000 invested.
Maybe this law firm can handle the purchase of a home or some other mundane task. However, if you need representation in a life-changing circumstance, I wouldnt go within a mile of that office. no thank you.
The experience has been totally unacceptable. The insincere apologies and insignificant refunds have become nauseating. good luck to anyone who trusts these people.
