1 /5 Theresa F: If I could leave zero stars, I would. My experience with Roy Reeve Agency has been nothing short of a nightmare. I was in the process of buying a home in a 55+ retirement community and urgently needed affordable homeowner’s insurance. A friend referred me to Roy Reeve, and I spoke with Peter, who clearly struggled to understand basic details about the property. Despite a rocky start, he later called with good news—he found an affordable policy and we agreed to meet to finalize things. He never showed up for our meeting, and I ended up driving to their offices instead.
When I got there, I met with Susan C., a manager at the agency who took over and confirmed the policy Peter provided was incorrect—wrong address and wrong coverage type. Susan said she’d fix it, but the price jumped from $759 to $1,201. I agreed, left a signed check, and assumed it was settled.
After my closing, $2,024 was withdrawn from my bank—not the agreed amount. Susan blamed it on a mistake and promised a refund, which took weeks and numerous follow-ups to finally get. Then came the worst part: the policy was canceled because they classified my condo as a trailer, despite me being clear it had a foundation and was not a trailer. I had to scramble for new homeowner’s insurance within 30 days.
My last phone call to Roy Reeve Agency, I spoke to Melissa and I requested to speak with the owner for resolution and some kind of compensation for all I went through. Melissa just kept saying that she was arguing with underwriting about my condo being a trailer. Are you kidding me? How does this agency not know how to insure people properly?? For a company with over 100 years in business, this was a disgraceful and stressful experience. Avoid them if you want competence, clarity, and professionalism. They were a complete headache!
