1 /5 Surendra Kelwala: About two years ago I moved all my monies out of Fidelity to TD Ameritrade because of the cockiness of the people who work at the counter at this branch. My wife stayed back because she felt loyalty to the company she has been with for more than 15 years.
She got paid for her loyalty to this brokerage firm yesterday.
We deposited money in her account on Monday morning so we could do wire transfer on Tuesday. The guy who helped us on Monday was arrogant and told us in no uncertain terms that the money will not be available in any condition till before Wednesday and perhaps not as long as Friday. The money was available Tuesday morning as we found out from their 800 number.
At around 3 my wife went to their branch. The dunces there took 2 hours and 17 minutes to do a wire transfer. We do lot of wire transfers because we buy investment properties. It never takes more than 10 minutes at any of the Charter one bank branches. Here the reps behind the counter were not just rude they were outright incompetent. At one time they were insulting my wife telling her does she know how to fill their forms. At another time they told her rudely directing her with a finger to go to that table and fill this form as if she was an assembly line worker being ordered by the foreman to go and do your job as told and not deserving of any relief. When she asked if they could get their manager to come out and help because he doesnt know what he is doing she was rudely told that he is the expert here on wire transfers and the manager cannot come out. She expressed concern for Fidelitys future if that his kind of experts were on its payroll. She wanted Scott, the supposed assigned adviser on her account, and was told he is too busy to come out for this kind of stuff. There were hardly any customers coming in and out of that branch. Despite the instructions sent by the Title company showing that the money was to be sent to Premium Title they kept putting the recipient as my wife. We could not afford to make any mistake because the wiring had to be done on that day to not cancel the deal. Finally she said she wants to move her money to TDAmeritrade because they are treating her so rudely because she is an Indian and a woman. At that point the Manager and Scott showed up and all were visibly scared. My wife has quite a hefty account.
There was even more idiocy but the review is already too long. I would just mention that they were pestering to know from my wife if this wire transfer is international or not while it was clearly written that the address it was being sent to is Atlanta Georgia. If these guys do not know that Atlanta Georgia is in the US God bless Fidelity Brokerage firm.
