1 /5 M Gamblin: Ms. Lori Kent @ the Griffin location managed to cause me a lot of undue stress, aggravation, and inconvenience. I went in to open a savings account, and inquired about an IRA that an inherited 401K could be deposited into. She told me I could open a Traditional IRA to place the funds into. I told her well in advance that I was not legally married to the individual that made me the beneficiary on his retirement benefits. She knew all the facts, but yet still allowed me to open a Traditional IRA. A week passed after it was opened and I was under the impression that all was well so I gave the bank that was holding the funds the Credit Union membership number and address so the checks could be made out and sent to me to deposit into the account. The day AFTER I gave the information to the bank to put on the checks, Ms. Kent called me late in the afternoon and told me they couldnt accept the funds, but gave me no explanation as to why. When the first check arrived with their Credit Union listed as custodian I took it to the Credit Union and asked why it couldnt be accepted. Ms. Kent wasnt at that location. So another employee assisted me. She called Ms. Kent to get information why the check couldnt be deposited, but Ms. Kent didnt answer and apparently didnt bother to answer her voice mail. I waited the remainder of the afternoon for some kind of call which never came. I had to resolve the issue by calling the bank that issued it and have that check and another one that was already in the mail voided out. I was successful in opening an INHERITED IRA with the bank that was holding the funds. I went back to Southern Credit Union the next morning to close the useless IRA Ms. Kent opened for me and the savings account I had opened. She wasnt in the office again, so another employee had to close the membership. She said that Ms. Kent told her she didnt know that a non spouse beneficiary couldnt roll over inherited funds into their establishment. Excuse me, but the woman should know her job and what can and can not be done there concerning such as that. I have already been through enough with my fiance being terminally ill for six months and passing away. Not to mention the stress of getting his Estate in order. Not once was I offered an apology for all the stress, aggravation, and inconvenience she caused me. I will never recommend this Credit Union to anyone after what took place.
