1 /5 Phillip Turner: When I started with Lee Dandy Allstate, I was impressed with the price and coverage. But like so many other insurance companies, after approximately 1 year, I get slammed with ridiculous fees, and my premium jumped nearly $500 per six months.
One of the first issues was an app on my phone called “drive wise”, which will give you a discount for your safe driving. I of course enrolled. After a year, I had a notification pop up from “drive wise” that said I no longer needed to use the app. So, due to it taking a significant amount of space on my phone, I deleted it. Wrong!
I paid an extra $150 for deleting an app that told me it was no longer necessary.
When I brought this to a lady’s attention at the agency, she replied “I don’t know why that application does that, but it sure is annoying”! I was still forced to pay the fee.
Another of the extra charges or fees was,
$50 each month, because I didn’t re-enroll with paperless billing. Even though I had originally signed up for it, I must do it every six months in order to maintain the discount. But what really upset me, was that I couldn’t re-enroll until my next premium. Which means Allstate gets to charge me $50 a month, for six months, even if I re-enrolled for paperless billing. That is very convenient for Allstate, huh?
Another bogus charge was a late payment charge, even though I have payments drafted out of my checking account each month. I made this very clear over the phone, but the lady I spoke with, didn’t seem to know why I had been charged.
I’m currently looking for another insurance company, once again, due to the overwhelming lack of empathy from almost every large company, and the small agencies that do their bidding.
They originally spoke as if they had my best interests in their “hands”, but I now realize that I was just another number to them, and if I failed to click on the correct icon every premium cycle, I would face several different fees, that most can’t afford, due to the economic downturn.
I highly recommend looking elsewhere for homeowners or auto insurance, even though the premium rates look good now. This place couldn’t care less about your money, unless you don’t give them every penny they request of you.
I’ve had no tickets whatsoever in over a decade, and no claims in at least 20 years!
That doesn’t seem to matter to Lee Dandy Allstate. Only the almighty $$ matters to Lee Dandy Allstate. Customer service is something of a relic, I suppose.
Do yourself a favor. Regardless of what quote you get, it will increase dramatically. It not only happened to me, it happened to my 82 year old mother, who has had 1 ticket in lifetime, 40 years ago and no claims, ever.
It also happened to my niece. This place cares nothing for retaining customers or simply telling them the truth.
