1 /5 Sherri Fuller: The office staff here in Cedartown was very polite but didnt know what was or wasnt acceptable after their adjuster/ inspector came out to inspect my property. Universal Property who are through Nationwide obviously wasnt making it very clear either. Whether all I had to do was make a repair and it would be acceptable or if my only choice was to replace the whole roof in order to be covered. Big difference in price, and I never received a solid answer as to which way but was told it "might work". I had to schedule roofers to come out and give me bids which takes a little while due to their schedules. I chose to just get a new roof, better in the long run. Jennifer with Universal/Nationwide was saying that my policy wasnt paid in full when in fact it was and Patrick with Universal Property had to tell her that. Regardless, even being paid in full still didnt get us an extension from Universal and or Patrick knowing that the roofers were on my roof replacing it, in its entirety, as we spoke. So, at 12:01am July 25th my insurance was cancelled and the roof was completed later that day. Universal still wanted pictures and a letter from my licensed roofer stating "how old the roof was, its condition and its life expectancy"... wait, What? Thats crazy, the pic I understand, but a letter too - ridiculous, but we complied. Wasnt going to take a chance and have them as they said "they will back date my coverage" but it will take 3-5 business days. Sure they would, if something would have gone wrong I would have heard these words from Universal Property "your policy cancelled on July 25th" and nothing would have been covered. No thank you, I wasnt born yesterday and my house and everything in it is very important to me and my family. By 4pm, July 24th - I had a new insurance company, who hadnt seen my house as of yet, but I told them that a new roof was going on right now as we speak and at 12:01am, July 25th, I/my house was completely covered without them wanting or needing a letter and or a picture of my new roof. Goodbye Universal Property, I wont ever do business with you again regardless of your annual cost!
