1 /5 Anthony Perez: Truist Bank Branch - Deceptive Practices and Unhelpful Service - I had a terrible experience with this Truist Bank branch recently that left me feeling frustrated and deceived. I had to sell my car due to financial needs, planning to use part of the money to purchase a cheaper car and the rest for an emergency expense. When I went to deposit the check at the branch, the teller could see I was upset, yet she still told me with a smile that there would be a seven-day hold on the funds. This news was devastating, and I was on the verge of tears. She then called over the Branch Leader, Anthony, who told me there was nothing he could do but asked me to return the next day. He said he would call Chase to verify the check and possibly release the funds sooner. When I returned the next day, Anthony said he needed to speak with someone at a Chase branch to verify the check had funds, claiming that the customer service number would not suffice. Confused and frustrated, I called Truist customer service myself, only to find out that it was the branch that had placed the hold—specifically, the teller who assisted me—and only they had the power to reverse it. To verify, I personally went to a nearby Chase bank, where they informed me that their policy is to only verify checks through customer service, not at local branches. This meant that the Branch Leader, Anthony, had lied to me the entire time, wasting my time and causing me unnecessary stress. He had the authority to reverse the hold but chose not to, despite knowing how urgent it was for me to access at least part of the money. I am deeply disgusted by the deceptive behavior and lack of empathy shown by Truist Bank. This was an urgent situation for me, and they did nothing to help. If youre looking for a bank that cares about its customers and is willing to assist them during challenging times, I strongly advise you to avoid Truist Bank.
