1 /5 Jerri Dietz: CAUTION: I engaged in this law firm to draft our will while undergoing cancer treatment to ensure our affairs were in order. Upon reviewing the document, I discovered several alarming discrepancies:
1. Contrary to our explicit instructions, the firm inserted provisions enabling them to assume the role of executor, which we vehemently opposed given the substantial value of our estate.
2. Additionally, they included clauses entitling themselves to reimbursement for expenses such as airfare, despite our sole intent being the creation of a will.
3. Most concerning, within the section granting special powers, my husband’s initials were purportedly affixed, granting them unwarranted control. These initials were unmistakably forged, as my husband, a retired Federal agent, employs a unique signature style that cannot be replicated.
Subsequently, we terminated their services and engaged alternative representation at considerable expense to rectify the situation. Despite numerous requests, they have refused to provide us with our original documents, even upon demand from our new attorney.
I caution others to thoroughly scrutinize any legal documents provided by this firm. Prior attempts to address these issues were met with unusual resistance and inexplicable confusion during communications, leading me to question the integrity of their practices.
Forging a signature of a federal agent constitutes a serious federal offense and may also be subject to state law penalties. It is imperative to seek guidance from a qualified legal professional regarding any related matters.
