1 /5 R F: TD is extremely corrupt. Upon opening a back account at another location, I received the nicest customer service. I went with TD because they were the only bank to honor a POA. Upon leaving the area (which I did not live in, nor was there another location near me), I learned that I could not access any of the account opened due to being relayed the wrong login info. The card never worked either. Not a huge deal at the time as the account was only being opened for someone else I had POA for and I didnt need to use it. But it would be there for when the needed it in a couple months and one less thing for them to worry about. Upon revisiting TD with said person, we learned the account was drained from the initial $100 balance I was told would not have any monthly fees. Instead $10 was left in the account. Upon inspection, it appears they charged me a (I believe it was a) $3 statement fee. Not once did I receive ANY notification of this fee nor a single paper statement. This $3 fee however put me under $100, to which TD decided I was Hong to be charged a $15 acct maintanence fee ever month. Hence how I ended up with a completely unused acct a few months later with a balance of $10. I spoke with Lisa Hutchinson at this location who was not able to access anything to reverse except 2 monthly fees, and even that I felt came with a bit of friction. We decided we were closing the account and at this point we would take the $40 left and find another bank because clearly they didnt want our business. The account was zerod out but we were told we would have to call back the next day to close it. Not much else was able to be done anywhere either as the manager was gone on vacation into next week. All requests to call another location or the opening location for help were denied. We called back the next today, and repeatedly for the last 2 weeks only to be stuck on a loop on the phone and never have the call answered. I finally emailed Lisa and the manager today, just to have both emails kickback and say my email was blocked. At this point I dont know how to get this resolved and am worried about more fees and the amount going negative. I will NEVER recommend TD to anyone after this experience and I will be sharing my experience with everyone the recommended TD for a bank you can use a POA. Especially now that I know there are other alternatives.
