1 /5 Imani Diop: I took two pair of earrings to get fixed, 3 watches that needed batteries, an anklet, and a diamond bracelet. My bracelet is the only thing I was happy with. He actually fixed the clasp. One pair of earrings he completely ruined thinning it so much it bent when I took it out the bag in front of him. The 2nd pair of earrings, only one needed fixing. But now neither are wearable. The notch had gotten loose where the hook goes. He did not fix that. He actually made it worse. I let him know I wasn’t happy, and his response was why do you buy this type of jewelry. I felt insulted. I like my pieces very much. I read the reviews before trying this business, and thought they were a honest business. My anklet is no-longer an anklet. He took pieces out of it obviously. It’s very noticeable, and I no longer know what to do with the piece. It’s too small for an anklet, & too big for a bracelet. I took one of my rings off, and wanted to know how much it would be to replace the 2small diamonds that were missing. He said “o it’s too expensive for you.” I was literally about to leave the ring with him. He quoted $200. He also told me it would be too expensive to take some links out of another anklet to make it fit tighter. He assumed wrong multiple times. Working in healthcare, I have to replace batteries in watches all the time. Shah is extremely over priced. I left fighting tears. The experience was horrible, and made me feel many negative feelings. He made me pay with a card instead of cash. I prefer cash. He said he doesn’t take cash. He knew he wasn’t doing good business. He looked at me, and then said “here let me give you $40 cash to help me feel better. For my conscience. I’ll refund one earring.” Interesting how it was cash. $40 for one earring…I told him I didn’t want the receipt, I wanted a breakdown. He was only willing to give me the receipt with the total amount $334 and some change. He kept talking to me like I didn’t understand him, and lacked intelligence. I don’t like confrontation, and he is my elder. He stated twice with other insults that he could be my grandfather. So I left. The initial conversation when I dropped everything off had me thinking this would be a long term business relationship. This visit was a test. I’ll stick to my current jeweler back home.
