1 /5 Kim Joiner: I WISH I COULD GIVE NEGATIVE STARS!!!!The Law Offices of Rotstein & Shiffman represented my husband in his disability case starting in January 2022. He was unable to work due to medical issues as of June 2021 and underwent around six surgeries in that first year. Communicating with the attorney was extremely frustrating; we could never reach them or receive a callback. He couldnt collect unemployment because he was applying for disability, and he couldnt work for the same reason. Additionally, his ex was constantly trying to have him jailed over child support, which only eased when he was no longer working. He provided medical care for his children and had to cover the costs of various medications and specialist visits every two weeks. After being repeatedly denied for disability and struggling to communicate with the attorney, he returned to work in January 2024. However, the nature of the work available to him after such a long absence only exacerbated his medical condition, leading to more surgeries. He felt he had no choice but to push through, even though it put significant strain on his already fragile health. Fast forward to April 2025, when the attorney finally reached out regarding an appeal. They sent us paperwork to complete, which we filled out promptly. Once again, we faced months of silence as we tried to determine the hearing date. Eventually, the disability office contacted us the 1st week in July letting us know the hearing will be October. However, on July 24th, we received a letter from the attorney stating, "Please be advised that after final review in preparation for your upcoming hearing, it appears you have been working over the allowable amount; therefore, we will be withdrawing as your representative." I was left in disbelief—who does that? What do they expect people to do.

1 /5 Georgina Michel: Always do your research concerning the experience level of an attorney in your specific case as it relates to Social Security. Not all attorneys are equally knowledgeable. I’m usually better with my research, but I dropped the ball on this one. Now looking further into this firm, they have an awful lot of complaints and are not accredited with the BBB. I had previously worked with this attorney on my daughter’s Social Security case. While they were somewhat helpful years ago in my case, they didn’t seem particularly knowledgeable or proactive when it came to my daughter’s situation. Over the span of a year, I had minimal contact with them, and I was often the one doing the legwork and sending in documentation. When I recently found another attorney who is more experienced with my daughter’s specific situation, this office refused to waive their fee rights — despite the fact that they came in after the initial filing and haven’t meaningfully contributed to the reconsideration process. I requested an itemized list of services performed, and to date, I have not received one. What’s most frustrating is that their unwillingness to release their claim to fees is now preventing me from securing better legal help for my daughter. They showed little interest in understanding or addressing the complexities of her case — especially after I explained that her disability diagnosis came after the age of 18, which led to SSA’s rejection. I’m left with no choice but to file a formal complaint and seek other avenues to help my daughter. This experience has been deeply disappointing and unnecessarily stressful.

1 /5 Angel Espino: Hired them to help with my disability case. They did nothing to help and I ended up getting nothing but b/s from the lawyer who lost the case and now Im homeless and still seeking help while actually disabled and getting no help. I had about the same experience as Jennifer Coppolino below where the "lawyer" was NEVER interested in speaking to me or even knowing about my case. This became clear the day of the call with the Judge. These guys are not good, and the one who only spoke to me 1 time in a year before the call with the Judge was VERY rude. The entire time I was seeking disability the first go around they said they would help my case and I trusted them... If I could go back in time I would not have used them as I feel without them I had a chance of winning my case because I am honestly disabled. These folks did nothing for me. They had me speak to the assistant and from the point they said they would take my SSDI case but neither lawyer spoke to me for over a year long. Everytime I tried to call to speak to them it was blocked and I was told to speak to the assistant. Last couple of months she had me speak to HER assistant, and well I waited until a week before the call with the Judge to finally get to speak to the lawyer who was supposed to represent me! He called to prep me for the call with the Judge, and he was abusive, and dismissive of me as soon as I tried to tell him I had sent in more updated information on my case including footage, and not even 1 minute in he stops me very rudely and tells me "not to speak when not spoken to and only answer questions that I was rambling on." Mind you I had not spoken to this man before and he was my lawyer ... This left me ME in shock as I said to him that "Im only trying to explain to you sir the latest on my health since we have never spoken so you know where I am at and we can be on the same page!" He told me to be quiet, and also be silent when the Judge talks to me and only answer directly fast, and shut up. Because he felt I would ramble on. As you can imagine I was floored by his bad attitude, and still tried to be polite and I asked him had he seen the email I sent 2 weeks before showing new footage of my legs and he said no. Again shocked I asked how come I sent it to his assistant and HER assistant. The guy asked and sure enough he over looked the email with the footage and he saw the footage his words were "Oh my god your legs still look like this?" Showing me he had no idea who I was or my case for about a year. He said it didnt matter now since he didnt think he had enough time to send it to the JUDGE NOW!!! Mind you I got it to his office as requested A HEAD of time, and this is his answer. He than tells ma again to only answer the Judge in direct fast answers. Also drops the news that my meeting for my disability with the Judge would be a normal call not in person or even video like Skype. The Judge was also very rude, and dismissive and because of this they failed to help me, and Im homeless as the person who I was staying with my cousin is now passed away and, and my health is so bad I think Im dying myself. Because these people wasted my time with not doing their job that I cant afford to even buy the medication I need to help my health. I had to start my whole case over again and now a YEAR later Im still waiting and broke, and all thanks to these lawyers who did nothing for me. The assistants were very nice, and polite even tho last few months I was being passed by the main assistant who sounded over worked, and this is why she had her assistant now deal with me, and she was hard to get a hold of also! So 1 lawyer sent me to his assistant, and than she had her assistant which is now assistant number 2 help or take my calls, and she was also almost never around. I dont know about other cases but I wouldnt use them in a SSDI case. Not if like myself you need serious help because youre seriously disabled.

1 /5 Rosemarie Fletcher: Please take the time to read the reviews carefully before making your decision. My experience with Jonathan I. Rotstein’s office was not a positive one. Initially, I was only able to speak with a paralegal, despite calling for a consultation. After repeatedly following up, I did eventually speak with Jonathan himself—but unfortunately, the conversation was disappointing. He came across as dismissive and lacking in empathy. I believe that an attorney should take the time to listen and answer your questions without making you feel rushed or unimportant. That wasn’t the case here. Due to the tone and nature of the interaction, I promptly requested that my daughter’s file be closed. I’m relieved I made that decision. There are many attorneys out there who are patient, respectful, and genuinely committed to helping their clients.
