1 /5 Gisell Roche: I’m from Hillsborough County I understand that the norms are different in each county but I will say that without a doubt the people in that office are the rudest people I have ever spoken to before. Public defender doesn’t bother to communicate with her clients. Her assistant is beyond rude when speaking to you. you try to have a normal conversation and you get badgered saying that you’re arguing. It’s pointless to work there if you’re gonna be miserable and not help people out. I’m so sorry to the assistant to the public defenders or to the public defenders but if you guys are so miserable working there, quit and find a different job because you guys aren’t doing your job and helping people out at all. all you’re doing is sending innocent people to jail because you don’t communicate.

1 /5 Chris: After setting 3rd pretrial date, after thanking the judge I headed out the courtroom. As I was moving through the door, the Public pretender said she was waving my right to speedy trial. I turned with obvious confusion and the judge dismissed me. The date is set after the 90 days, but that is not my problem to pay for with my liberty. She had no right to sacrifice my rights to please the state. Theres no reasonable excuse to allow this. The justice department needs to find proper funding to adhere to my rights or drop cases. Neither side is ready and the judge even displayed that in the court with her questions. Im sure its all on video.

1 /5 Elizabeth Green: Trisha Laissle, one of the Public Defenders for Putnam County did not even see my friend that is in the jail until the day of arraignment. In front of the judge, therefore he did not get to tell his side of the story (Original charges)* nor for VOP which was… missed one payment on fee and was fixing to pay it…had it on him and he missed a couple of classes, nothing major. And he was doing really good on the outside. Therefore not giving him a chance to say also what he thought was a fair sentence or trial. Only listening to district attorney and state attorney as told to the judge. I believe that they already had discussed the day before what was going to happen to him. He did not deserve to get 40 months in prison. That is ridiculous! And all the lawyers tried to give him more time until the judge spoke up and said don’t forget about time served. How do all these people sleep at night, knowing they are ruining peoples lives by not getting the truth. I have a lot of lawyers (Public defenders and criminal) in my family including my Father and I would’ve done a better job than she. His original charges was…assault with a deadly weapon which was some kind of stick. If my roommate came in my room stealing my things for months (Trying to let it go) did not do or say anything until that roommate walked in and was bragging about the clothes that he had bought at the mall and in fact it was my friends clothes. I would’ve been mad as anyone would have been. I recently found out that the person that stole his things (numerous) is a drug dealer, but does anything happen to him nooooo!
